Arbee over at Gamers.nu has posted a interview with Norwegian superstar, Jørgen "XeqtR" Johannessen. The interview mainly focusses on his professional gaming career and his time currently with
Adrenaline.
Obviously you seem happy in Adrenaline so don't take any offense when I ask this but if one looks at the final standings of CPL Winter there were five Norwegians placing in the top four. Doesn't that make you wonder how a team like eoLithic would have done or even if an all Norwegian superstar team should still exist nowadays? Let's say hypothetically your Norwegian team wins the WCG, contracts aside, wouldn't it be tempting to reform eoLithic?XeqtR: We were the best team in the world with eolithic, and I don't see why we couldn't do that again, or at least keep the number one spot during the rest of 2003, but we had no real organisation behind the team. The team itself was created from a basis of friendship and when that failed because of some "minor" internal problems I realized as long as you don't have the necessary sponsors/organisation around a team you can't keep a world class team together just on friendship. You need contracts, salaries, funding for travels, etcetera, to keep teams together nowadays at this level. Of course, when my contract with adrenaline runs out and we win WCG and we see the opportunity to make eoL again, with sponsors, etcetera, I wouldn't say no, but at the moment, that is a very unrealistic option, and I'm very content with my situation in adrenaline.
Very interesting proposition, you can read the full interview here.
