XCSL Interview

As promised, an interview with the Xtreme Counter-Strike League, conducted by me (bet none of you saw that coming) is up! If you're interested in a league with a difference or you're just an old school player who misses the Charge Only (CO) Rules, I'd recommend checking it out and then heading over to the XCSL website. Here's a snippet:

Why have you decided to use CO rules? What's the appeal and advantage over the standard MR rules?
XCSL|Nick - We've elected to use CO over the more typical MR purely because everyone else is using the MR system. We didn`t want to just be another clone of every other league out there. We have nothing against MR or any other leagues, but we just wanted to be different and offer a choice of game types to the community.
As for the advantages. Counter-Strike has slowed down a lot lately, forcing many leagues/ladders to adopt shorter round times. CO rules should allow for faster gameplay and make it a lot more interesting for HLTV. No one wants to see people camping for half of each round. By re-introducing CO, we`re hoping both the clans participating and the viewers watching will enjoy the overall experience as a change from watching/playing a typical mr12 game.

Just lets see what happends and i lay my house on it now (yes i do own a place) that if this takes off in a big way i bet i see all your clans applying for it and i would laugh even harder if you got turned down. Dont go slating something just coz u dont like CO rules because funny enuogh there are clans and players out there that like CO rules. Myers how can you say mr 12 and 15 have sped the game up ? you having a laugh aint ya ? Look im not digging at you lot but i find its unfair that most of u are moaning about this without giving it a try. I know the admins and im not sticking up for them but ffs lads dont go slating a league when none of us have played in it this yet. 	xrob 11:58 29/7/2005	I really cant see this being successful, but we'll have to wait and see i guess, i dont think i have played CO rules since before 1.3 i cant actually remember when i personally switched to mr12. The game itself is just not fast enough anymore for these type of rules, cs itself has been slowed down far too much. You may aswell just make this a 1.3 league if you want it to be 'fun'. I personally cannot be bothered playing in this league purely because its a waste of my time when i have very little time already to play the standard rules, but for all you hxc players hf. CPL also believed that CSS would totally overtake 1.6, they had to go back on that and hold a 1.6 tourny too. Currently 1.6 is growing more than CSS is. Let that be a lesson to you, CPL talk bollocks. CO will be fine after a couple of weeks when people stop rushing and realise that they did need tactics. [ Comment: Report \| IP: Logged ]

See column by yours truly on the merits of the CPL/DCi agreement ;) Frosty, you should do something to yourself that is so bad I don't have the imagination to visualise it. Mind you I'm pretty poor at cs so being able to tell everyone I had crap scores because I was always "first in" was a bit of a bonus. I swear the rest fothe guys used to hold me up and run with me in front of them- even managed to get the seminal Boozeplatoon into the top 5 on cbuk in late 2002 running CO rules. great days. nice to see someone bringing it back for another run out. been chatting with a lot more people than usual of late for some reason and a lot of them suggested we put up a co rules cup at some point for some retro gaming, glad to see you guys picking it up and running with it - gl XCSL fellas , 1.6 needs as much life breathing into as possible.
