WON Authentication Problems

The problems people are experiencing with WON.net authentication this evening relate to the "CD Key in use" error fix that we reported earlier this week. On Thursday night the IP address of one of the WON authentication servers was due to change, however it looks like this work was delayed until this evening. Consequently, Half-Life may have trouble authenticating you until the DNS change propagates around the Internet (which could take up to 48 hours depending on your ISP).

The problem will eventually fix itself, but you can hardcode the new IP address yourself by editing the C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\Valve\woncomm.lst file and replacing all instances of "half-life.west.won.net" with "198.74.33.62". Obviously you do this at your own risk, and we suggest you make a backup of the file first.
