WEG Playday 2 - Results

At around 6am GMT, the second round of group stage games kicked off over in South Korea, with top invited teams from around the world battling it out to achieve qualification for the knockout stages and the chance to compete for a substantial cash prize. With some surprising and controversial results last week, this weeks matchups made for interesting reading:

Project [09] vs [13] CatchGamer
Date: Saturday 11th June (6am GMT)

Project: ryu, ssamba, loki, termi, Solo

CatchGamer: bsl, juve9le, DaY, zevon, Juzam

Astralis [13] vs [06] Abitstrike
Date: Saturday 11th June (6am GMT)

Astralis: natu, NicoustiE, guardian, bloodR, tihOp

Abitstrike: popo, freestyle, LAIXILAIXI, szero, 117

So with a succession of losses, NoA are eliminated from the tournament. So far this has to be the largest shock, with a disappointing showing in their first game against strong opposition many saw this as a chance for NoA to dominate and return to form against a "weak team". However it was not to be, with NoA losing out to a team that has grown in stature since their last WEG attendance, but with the loss of elemeNt and fisker from the lineup, it is little wonder that NoA have struggled. Both Project and Abitstrike made good showings against CatchGamer and Astralis respectively, before finally being put to bed by the two Scandanavian teams. Aside from all of the other matches, our very own 4Kings made quick work of Team-Pentagram, taking both pistols and failing to lose a gunround in the second half to secure a comfortable margin of victory.
