Although we're meant to be announcing the winners of the UKT Wallpaper competition tomorrow, unfortunately due to the death of St_George's hard disc, all the existing entries have been lost (these things happen). Please can anyone who entered re-send their entry to me (alpha (at) ukterrorist.com), and I'm afraid we'll have to extend the deadline, probably to about two weeks today (September 23rd). Remember the winner gets a free 12-player server from Anti-Lag for one month.
We've also been working behind the scenes on a demos section for UKT, and we now need a few demos to test it out. If you've got a recent-ish match demo lying around that you think would be of interest to the community at large, please email me a download link along with the following info:

Ive been waiting for ukt to get some webspace and have a demo's section. Will make things much easier that you can link results to demos with fast uk mirrors. n1 [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Linking to Clan Database, i.e you can either type in the teams names or select them from the list on clan rankings, then the clans page could have a list of demos featuring them...
Basic Demo Info: could have a layout similair to the old serverspy interface, shows the map with a nice little .jpg of map, shows a player list (if known), shows both teams, shows competition
Demo Info Continued: you could also add a link that allows users who wish to know the scores from each half / final result... dont make it viewable on main page as some people dont wanna know result before watching - like footie news before the premiership "look away now"... allows users to choose demos which are likely to show a strong aztec terrorist half for example
then see how they can steal/develop the tactics from demos rather than lookin through 4 demos of a t' team getting 1 round ;/
classics section: some demos from some time back of the big games SK v's I-eS etc- think new demo players make the old demos work now dont they ? if not no real point in this :)
ratings section: allows users who have viewed the demo to rate the demo... try and enforce it so they have to have downloaded the demo at least - obviously you cant check they watch it... then have a top 30 demos of all time... top 10 demos this week
etc etc
anyways just a few of my ideas so far - have fun :D [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

it kind of limits the number of demo's on offer.
people like to see an exhibition of somones skill, whether it be the player playing well in a PCW, Mix or CPL final. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

1) shows untrue reflection of players
2) shows off teams tactics which they may be saving for a competition [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

I think it would be nice to see a fast, reliable database for the non pro uk teams to share demos of medium/high skilled clans instead of just the pro's.
I think it would be a nice feature if each member could upload a personal demo which would be only of that player(first person view) just playing in a match, public, pcw or whatever available on the members profile page. Instead of lots of random player demos on the database that no-one wants to see.
To avoid demos being uploaded that are not wanted by admins/players I think an approval system is needed so each demo is uploaded but before it is entered into the database it is approved/dissaproved by an admin. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

look how many events happen in the UK...
e.g look at how many demos of UKT events have been lost etc. therefore the overall size of the database is going to be tiny and rather boring.
not everyone wants to see some Pro's ripping it up in an event where they time-out ecos and stuff.
loads of people release videos of people playing public, mix, pcw.
you have to cater for all tastes, if u _dont_ want to see people playing public/mix/pcw, dont download the demo. seems like a fairer way of dealing with it rather than excluding all those demos just because they arent to your taste. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

who wants to see some div3 CSGN team get slammed 24-0? when you could see a mix of good UK players. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

probably the same would happen with clans, people wudnt wanna play the clans that demo pcw's and upload them... [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

all im saying is dont burn the bridges of what demos should/shouldnt be allowed on the section. it only limits what people can see.
look how many people have seen that demo of HeatoN on dust2 public... allbeit he is arguably the best player in the world, but it still shares the same principles as the points im trying to make here.
and the demo section shouldnt be open-upload, it should be done via an admin, to stop it getting clogged up with s***e, but not everything should have to be an official game. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

2) wudnt want the demo to be uploaded of the game
i didnt even know heaton had a public demo...id imagine the only reason it got downloaded was a one off for the purpose of seeing wot it was like or comedy value..... no1's really arsed bout his public skills [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

im sure alot of clans wouldnt want their league games uploaded, for whatever reason, alot of clans play games in Leagues that dont show a true reflection of their clan. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

we could go on for weeks about the pro's and con's of mix's/officials/pcw's, but the fact remains people have different opinions on what they want to see.
you, obviously want to see an official game, as the tactical side of CS interests you, whereas i enjoy watching somone ripping it up, whether it be official, pcw or a mix.
i could say somthing like "dont include demo's of people AWPing, coz the awp is gay*", whilst this would apply to my viewpoint on the use of the AWP, there are plenty of AWPers out there who want to see talented players using it.
If people honestly have a problem with a demo that has been uploaded, then they can request that it be removed for whatever reason.
*i have nothing against the AWP, or AWPers, and remain neutral on the matter. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
