	K 11:39 5/11/2002	For anyone interested in finding out how it works, valve modified the netcode to only send the entities to a player if that entity is in their PVS (Potential Visibility Set). So if a player shouldn't be allowed to see an entity (which includes other players, guns etc) he wont. Not new technology at all, this should have been the first step against cheats as it is the most obvious method. (i think this is correct, but not 100%) [ Comment: Report \| IP: Logged ]

I can see this ending the transparent wall wallhacks which afaik just change the drawing code for the scene to make the walls that should obscure a player transparent. However the entity wallhacks will still work in certain cases once they are rewritten imo. You cant hide a players position completly if they arent visible becasuse if they are making a sound your client has to know where that sound is. The only way to wallhack now is how aI said above and this will result in jerky motion of the player but it will give WHers a small edge. However if you creep round making no sound then the WHer will get no advantage. On an unrelated note I quit online CS and am playing Q3 now. I think I have a big future in it online. Entity based hacks sniff packets for data (ie what gun / health etc a player has) and then puts the info on the screen as OGC did / does. They will be the ones that still work. Couple of the players were running but the guy at the back wasnt by the looks, might have just discharged his weapon (no pun). TBH until I see it for myself (im DLing new hacks for our PCW with N@S soon ) cant say for sure. But the sound WH wouldnt take long to make cos all the code is there in OGC. Entity based hacks sniff packets for data (ie what gun / health etc a player has) and then puts the info on the screen as OGC did / does. They will be the ones that still work. Couple of the players were running but the guy at the back wasnt by the looks, might have just discharged his weapon (no pun). TBH until I see it for myself (im DLing new hacks for our PCW with N@S soon ) cant say for sure. But the sound WH wouldnt take long to make cos all the code is there in OGC.
