As yet another VAC update hits our screens, it appears the top bods at Valve are working harder than ever to rid their game of the cheaters and hackers that infest CS.
As our resident configing/hacking smartarse, Seaweed recently pointed out in one of his columns, Valve have been successful in stamping out many hacks almost as soon as they are made public. At long last it appears Valve may be winning the war against the hackers and in an attempt to deal them another blow, Valve's Nick Shaffner has announced a bounty on their heads.
In true Ransom style, Nick revealed plans to offer a prize (non-monetary) to anyone who could give them information on any un-detected hacks or BETA versions of un-released cheats. He also made it clear that using cheats of any kind is a violation of the standard End User License Agreement.
So if you happen to know of any 'dirty' hacks in the pipeline, E-Mail Nick right now, before someone else claims your prize!

I also heard that hackers have plans to foil Valve by having a whole string of cheats waiting for Half Life 2, made through the leaked version of the game.
That would certainly be a blow considering Doom being released at the same time. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Not true, that is why the game was further delayed, so they could preent this from happening by editing the code slightly. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

[cheat site] all ready tells them, what is and isnt detected? why not just visit cheat sites on a regular basis?

[cheat site] SAYS:
At this point, I'm only interested in things not readily available via web search engines. I'm particularly interested in unreleased beta versions of major cheat programs.

fact is software is created by humans and can be manipulated by humans. simple as.
But it is good that they are starting to crack down on hacks, havent seen which ones are blocked but i hope the OGC intelligence versions have been stopped after like half a year of not being detected. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

I had a cheat on our server the other day, by the name of SkiP we gave him a 1 day ID BAN, then about 4 days later there was another odd looking player and we asked him if his name was SkiP, lol @ his reply?
"If I tell the truth what will happen?"
Lol instant ban for skip, cheats are easy to spot, they have amazing aim but crap game sense? they dont look at the spots they should be covering! Have stupid high sensitivity noob things like that... [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Some cheat named Slay0r had constantly been re-released and again caught out within a matter of hours.
The amount of people banned in them hours thinking the new cheat updates were safe, must have been comical :)

Funny how one of the players was dreaM, and after we drew with his clan they all joined our channel HAHAHA YOU'RE s*** HAHAHAHA. Yes well done.
And the amount of players caught on public is amazing, it's like I'll join, and while I'm buying some poor c*** will get banned, then as I'm running to a bombsite someone else will get banned. Comedy.

What’s needed as well as increased anti cheat functions is adequate admins who do their jobs properly. Yeah you can't admin a server 24/7 but while there is no admin available lock it off as a private server.
Maybe a GUI derived report cheat function could be implemented easily enough in to the current GUI, so players with some knowledge of what is happening can cast their opinions on who is cheating and report/vote ban them with a majority vote.
Personally I know of several Windows operating system flaws that allow for transparency related benefits for CounterStrike. They are not even cheats; they are Windows faults and can't be detected through VAC or any other anti-cheat gateway.
No matter what Valve does there will always be someone out there with an advantage. The fewer of them out there the better but there will always be someone.
What it comes down to is better report features and better administration features built in to Counterstrike would be just as beneficial as anti-cheat updates.
As for those dumb admins out there who are quick to ban a player using skill rather than cheats, grow up!
I say bollox to cheats and dumb admins!
Time will tell if what Valve plan to do will have any good results but I expect we will still be in the same position next year.......And the year after........Etc. Still stuck with poor admins and too many cheats.
