UK/IE Cup II announces LITE as location for LAN Finals

The UK/IE CS Cup, one of the biggest and highly anticipated online CS competitions in the United Kingdom and Ireland, started its second swing of the bat last Sunday. What makes this competition stand out are its size, prizes, ambition and LAN Finals.
The UK/IE Cup is proud to announce the location and details of the LAN Finals today:
  • Location: LITE centre, Macclesfield, Cheshire
  • Date: Sunday in mid/end of June 2004
  • Capacity: the last eight teams of the UK/IE Cup, ability to play two matches at a time
  • PC Specs: Athlon 2200xp, Asus Geforce4 ti, 768MB RAM, 17" monitor (own mice and headphones can be brought along)
  • Tournament Layout: 8 team double eliminiation
  • Entry fee: £5 per player
  • Prizes: various prizes sponsored by 4u-servers, des1gn, space-host, so-elite, everglide, and more hardware/money sponsors in the pipeline.

The UK/IE Cup organisation is very satisfied with the agreement made with LITE, and is looking forward to a great cooperation.
The original idea was to host the Finals for the last four teams.
However, the UK/IE Cup organisation now was able to expand the event from four to eight teams, while keeping the entry fee as low as 5 pound per player. Just to cover part of the costs as the UK/IE Cup and LITE dont aim to make profit out of the players for this event.

What was decisive for the UK/IE Cup to go with this centre was that the LITE event organisers, led by Juzza and Loxam (ex-UniCon) have a good reputation and experience behind them, and because of their good contacts will progress the sponsorship negotiations for this event on behalf of the UK/IE Cup. So more prizes (hardware, and eventually money), can be be secured.

22:55 15/3/2004		 there will be room for on site spectators. LITE told me something could be arranged with a backyard and a TV screen displaying HLTV. Also there seem to be a big parking spot there and good places to eat at in the neighbourhood.

But dont worry, we will of course also continue our coverage online (thats where we meant to be good afterall), with HLTV, scorebots, screenies, and matchreports. Possibly even on site shoutcasting (not me this time tho >;P ) [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
