UK/IE Cup Seeded Teams Announced

The organisers of the upcoming UK/IE Cup II have made another announcement regarding the teams that have been selected for the seedings. Seeds 1-8 are the teams that are to be the group leaders. Here are the 16 seeded teams:

  • (1) lastchance
  • (2) EVD.monkeymagic
  • (3) nocturne
  • (4) clan:ONE
  • (5) zebras
  • (6) uniCon
  • (7) Landed
  • (8) Choke
  • (9) BLACKLiGHT
  • (10) Xtra
  • (11) game2xs
  • (12) 2seXeh 2perfoRm
  • (13) SCEE
  • (14) noLimit
  • (15) code of eXecution
  • (16) fightclubclan
The list of teams is quite similar to leading UK online league CSGN but with a few more additions such as nocturne and clan:ONE. One positive decision this season from the CB admins is to utilize the new and popular anti-cheat system made by CSGN.

11:33 3/3/2004		 seeds are good I reckon. Nocturne should be above Monkeymagic though, they've beaten them in ever single official they have played (both on lan and online). Be interesting to see how Lastchance do with their new members. Although SCEE have a low seeding I doubt any of the top 5 would wanna face them any time soon in the competition.

Will have a word with them later this week, as they are autoberthed into the groupstage they wont have to play in the Cup yet for 3/4 weeks, so we'll have to see.

12:30 3/3/2004		 I agree with the top 5 seeds. Great to see ONE back but no indication yet as to how the current line up will perform. lc and mm been playing great for a while now, long may it continue, noc and zebras always solid.
As far as the rest go you could probably shuffle them in any order and still sell the placements as reasonable, bar maybe uC, Landed and 2s2p currently showing better form than most. Have to say we didn’t expect anywhere near 8th with our recent form. Best try to sort out our problems before this kicks off.

Lastchance seeded 1st when they have never done anything good on LAN and have a new team.

ONE seeded 4th ?!?!?!?! When they are probably the cloesest thing to a challenge 4K had had in a LONG time, and with multiple LAN victories and online victories, they should easily be seeded 1st.

MM seeded above noc? lol come the f*** on, we've beaten them 3 times in a row, twice on LAN, once online. Obviously that means they're still better than us.

if these seedings were based on 'previous peformances on lan and in other leagues' i cant see how the hell LC got into the top 5, and why ONE aren't a clear 1st seed. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

13:31 3/3/2004		 i dont get why the seedings even needed to be ordered, isn't it just group stages? just pick 2 random clans from the seedings per group then throw in the 2/3 other qualifying teams. as i read it there will be a group of teams...

1 Team from the top 8
1 Team from the 9-16 range
and then however many other teams u get stuck with...

13:44 3/3/2004		 as far as i can work out following the layout it dosen't matter if your seeded 1st or 8th in the top 16 ? as you get put into a group with only 1 other top 16 paring, probably being a seed 1-8 and 9-16 + whoever elses gets there from quals in the group stages.
