UK CPL Winter 2004 Qualifier

Yesterday Game Frontier announced they will be holding a CPL Winter Qualifier this December the 3rd, 4th and 5th. The event will take place at a new location in London with 16 teams battling it out for a trip to CPL which boasts a $100,000 prize fund.

Tournament structure will remain the same as the previous summer qualifier, out of all the teams who apply 16 will be picked to take part. The event will take place alongside the grand finale of Intel Extreme Edition Challenge 3 - 'Bloodline' Tournament and a 400 BYOC LAN event provided by Jolt, all CPL Qualifier attendees will receive BYOC spots to practice on.

Venue: Black island studios, boasting ample space and excellent facilities in the heart of London.

At this event you will also see the best 8 Painkiller players in the UK battle it out to win a contract from 4Kings to take part in the CPL World Tour commencing next year.

	JinKster 19:06 7/11/2004	I am pretty sure that if you are to compete in the event, it is 16 to compete in the UK event - and then 17 to go to Dallas if you win. There is proably some parental consent that goes along with the 16 to allow players if need be - to go. However, I seriously doubt that tournament organisers will permit players to be less than 16 - as legally that is supposedly the age for these Mature gams I believe. This event is like one massive buffet/bazaar of all the UK has to offer for competition. It is the most respected event in eSports - and thus spots will definately go quickly. It'll be the perfect anathema for some to get away from school - get your spots enrolled for at least the Jolt thing. Spots for Game Frontier and the Quals are slightly different. In the summer there seemed to have been a almost lack-of teams there to participate, as two mix teams were pulled in at the very last minute. The fact that the UK qualifier is the last one around Europe means that any people who came second at other events and cannot afford the flight and expenses themselves will be interested - hence yet again, these 'UK' quals may see the likes of having almost the majority - akin to the summer event - with half the participating cS teams being foreign. 	Coopsy Landed 12:44 8/11/2004	Jaff - this event WAS the Landed BYOC Lan that we were planning on having yes; before Jolt were put in charge of the BYOC. The BYOC at this event is not a Landed Lan, but is a Jolt production. Landed will be working with Game Frontier to host the UK CPL Winter Qualifier and to put on the best event possible.
