An excellent column has been written by DoZ calling for the creation of a pro-mode for CS, either by a server-side mod or otherwise. This would include changes such as less random recoil, and faster weapon switching.
I feel this is an issue which is close to what the UKT community stands for, and perhaps our support may well give it some weight.
You can read the column here. The author DoZ had this to say:
The points I listed aren't a definitive list, just the start of a pool of ideas.Ultimately, the only way any official change will come about is by public support being behind the idea, not the specifics. If you feel that you would like to see a return to a less random and faster paced counterstrike, you're encouraged to spread the word about the article or paste it on to other sites and see what can be achieved.

either way, the changes sound fair enough - they would probably be good, but making a pro mode will destroy the community imo. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

But the BEST outcome would be if Valve themselves made the changes, so the alreay dying community wasnt split in 2.
Tbh, just make a pro CS mod for HL2 instead of wasting time on the current game :x [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

I just pooled lots of peoples ideas together in one place, as the newspost says. Apart from the HLTV, everything else I have seen said in one way or another by other people.
Ultimately it's just a nice idea. Valve have been told about it, they have the opportunity to read it and see what they think. If, ultimately, it's not something they want to do then at least part of it can be achieved coding it through adminmod or amx and the likes. Sure, those wouldn't be ideal, but it'd be a step in the right direction.
None of it is plain impossible to do, even completely remaking the radar can be done. It's included in plenty of cheats. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

this cs classic runs thro steam as a third party game; same idea could be used for this if someone other than valve were needed/willing to do it. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

that's what i can't understand. cpma was introduced because q3 became too 'newbie friendly', and with the general opinion seems to be that this has happened to cs too - so why hasn't anyone sat down and made this mod already? [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

nothing to do with that .... beginners will be able to play the pro mode aswell you know ... its just a version of CS that will rely more heavily on aim and skill than vanilla cs [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Messeh, that CS classic is ok, but since it's a different mod it WOULD segregate the community. We need something with no download needed. Also since that is based on an old version of CS there's no HLTV etc, and all sorts of cheats work with no way of stopping them. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Think of the other 90% of the CS community who play for fun, dont care about this pro gaming nonsense...they like the game for what it is.
Read the comments from csnation, they seem to be ripping it apart. http://www.csnation.net/comments.php?id=7064
... and besides, as somebody rightfully points out. CS is going to die soon, with the imminent arrival of HL2 (fingers crossed) im sure a CS2 will be in development, it wouldn't be worth the time or money.
And who's to say there won't be a mod for HL2 that out-shines CS? CS could die for good and be replaced by another mod created by somebody other than valve. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

To reverse the psychology, it's selfish of them to wish a game upon the rest of us where there's a large random factor as opposed to one where that random factor is reduced. This is a game, not a lottery.
There could well be a HL2 mod that arrives and is better than cs, but it's not here now and we know what release dates are like. Don't expect it in the near future.
CS2 may come along. So? Does that mean it's going to be better, or it's going to drag everyone across to it? Not in the slightest.
The people "ripping" it to pieces are mostly using the segregation of the community as a reason not to, which shows how little of the article they actually read. There are no constructive crticisms as to why the random factor of the game should undenaibly stay [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
