Most of you will already be aware of the omg! CS clan, one of the best in the UK at the moment, and their achievements. Away from CS, however, they've been busy working on expansion, in the direction of RTCW. The UK #2 RTCW clan, LeMs, have joined m0rph and friends to become omg.RTCW. They will join up with their formidable CS and UT squads in an attempt to become the UK's best. After I-eS re-merged with 4K just over a week ago, we may be seeing the re-emergence of large, multi-gaming clans aiming to clean up at LANs. The website had the following to say.Plans for a RTCW section have been in the pipeline for a long time. We wanted the best, and the LeM RTCW squad fitted that profile perfectly. Having met them at recent lans we knew they had a mature outlook combined with a good team spirit and no shortage of skill level. This now puts OMG! into direct competition with 4k to be the countries #1 gaming team while keeping the OMG! Ethos of community spirit. As with 4K, this is bound to bring in extra finances for all concerned and it wouldn't surprise me if we see a lot more deals like this in the near future.

One thing omg! will do is stay a UK based organisation. It will promote gaming in UK and help to pump more money in our direction. I think these recent mergers could light the way for some exciting potential. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

especially in teamwork and tactics. in cs any old 5 people can band together and beat a well established clan, so long as they're good players and have comms.
try that in wolf and you would get smashed up.
the netcode is hugely better, there's no config hacking, there's no cheats, there's no bullshít childish players around, the graphics are better (but a less important point) and the game has a lot more variety.
people will just flame me and cs is better, but it would be nice to say why cs is better.. cos atm the only thing cs has going for it is how nice and innovative the guns/aiming system is. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

00:06, 21/1/2003 how are you promoting gaming in the uk? :)
3 top 3 UK teams rolled into one = 3 times the pulling power. If companies pull in to offer omg! and 4K things, then other firms will soon follow suit and look at other teams. Dont be surprised to see AMD making an appearance sometime soon. Its not a hard equation to follow [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

It also is available for more people and has been around longer, its such an easy game to pick up that teams can form in moments. I found with rtcw that the concept of the game was not as easy as in cs and it also seemed like you don't really acheive anything. Obviously you do but its not as obvious as in CS. take 5 of the best players in uk, manage to keep them together for 3 months, you'd have them #1. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

cba doing the quote stuff.
In rtcw there are configs, except they are allowed. You'd have noticed that at intel masters they were saying "whoever had this cfg i feel sorry for" etc.
And there are cheats, as it's the same engine as q3 and mohaa, give or take a tweak, they both have cheats. And i guarentee you there are some out there for rtcw [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Our reasons for merging have been explained by the others, to promote the Uk scene, to challange the 4kings 'empire' and to attract commercial interest to a stable team with the broadest appeal in multiplayer gaming. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Wolfie sux - teamplay is more important than cs but at the sacrifice of individual enjoyment, as far as I'm concerned.
But on the other hand - i think multiple gaming clans are the way foward so gl omg! [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

CS learning curve is tiny compared to RTCW, CS is very easy to learn to play compared to all class's you have to learn in RTCW, Not trying p*** cs peeps off seeing as i played both a fair bit but RTCW is defo the way forward from a decaying cs seen. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

CS isnt dieing its just that most ppl are p***ed off with the BS and lies (unless you are on lan). Unfortunately this never quite works as what happened with TF.
QW:TF was possibley the most popular game on the net at one time till the engine got outdated. They tried to convert the game to the hl engine and it was just s***. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

I have played and competed in both games thoroughly and prefer RTCW bya very large margin.
The gameplay and tactics require 100x more tactics and teamplay to succeed. The top teams have a huge amount of experience as a team and new teams need a long training period to get close to challenging them.
There is a good range of talent in the UK and the clans reflect this as with all games.
It is a completely different netcode and engine and is free of cheats which is refreshing coming from CS.
As we all do not like change, people coming from CS will most likely not like RTCW for the first while that they play it.
In general, the community is much more welcoming and 100000x less hostile.
It is well worth the effort in my eyes and the potential for future competitions and events is rapidly growing.
Worth a look if you are open to change and something different.
If you want some help getting into RTCW or have any questions, come along to #aurora or ask in the forums at http://www.aurora-team.com/forum [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
