Half-Life 2 Delayed

Yesterday several sites including The Register, CNN and Yahoo reported that Half-Life 2 would be delayed until 2004. Half-Life 2, the long awaited sequel to the 1998 game of the year Half-Life, was delayed as a direct result of the leaked source code.

As the source code, obtained by hackers, sweeps through p2p networks we all await a new release date from Valve. Rumours suggest that this game will be released during the Easter period next April via a multi-purpose package through Steam or retail outlets.

One has to wonder how this delay will affect the game and if this game will still live up to expectations being released after Doom 3, Max Payne 2 and UT2004.

	SuperNick 18:54 8/10/2003	Apparently the hacker will release a pre-gold version tomorrow (that means over 90% of it will be there). This seems quite feasible if they had planned for a November release. I am also confused what they will be changing by delaying though.. maybe did use it as an excuse. 	shads theb0g 19:31 8/10/2003	hl2 doesnt need any publicity, i really think theyre just trying to actually make cz count in some form or anything, coz everyone was like "OMFG HL2 SEPTEMBER 20TH" or whatever and no one cared about cz anymore, this gives people enough time to get bored of waiting and go out and buy cz in the meantime altho the amount of cryin they done over the leaked source code is pathetic, they are milking it for as much publicity as they can too, but its more likely that people are gonna get bored and not care anymore than actually give a s***, they shoulda just released the game its deservedly hyped enuf as it is [ Comment: Report \| IP: Logged ]

	AlleM 20:59 8/10/2003	valve them selves hasn't confirmed the delay for april - neither has vivendi the publisher. to many rumours flying around atm about the release date. www.halfsource.com for more info apparently some of their site owners went to see valve 2 days ago and they said its business as usual going for holiday release. until valve comfirms the april delay thats when ill believe it(even though it woulnd't suprise me anyway if it were april) [ Comment: Report \| IP: Logged ]
	Wolfie WanadooWolfie 21:27 8/10/2003	does the term 'any publicity is good publicity' spring to mind? with this, it branches far from games websites, and appears on sites such as cnn.com, as it comes into the category of 'hackers' and 'security risks' etc. wp to valve if this is a 'conspiracy' but tis a bit sad, and late in the day, people are getting peeved, more than more excited it seems [ Comment: Report \| IP: Logged ]
