Narby Releases New Map: de_quarry

The creator of the hugely popular de_aztec and de_inferno maps (among others), narby, today released his long awaited map, de_quarry. He first started work on the map well over a year ago, but has only just released it for playtesting after many requests.

Here's a few screenshots to whet your appetite:

Whether this map will be made official or not remains to be seen, it will also be interesting to see how it fairs as a competition map.

Narby has now released a new version of the map based on the feedback from players. He said:

I've added a vent between both sites as an alternate route as well as slowing the T down a few seconds from both sites. In addition, a number of clipping problems and some small tweaks to the models have been included.

The T's should make it to B in about 17 seconds. The CT, in about 15. Both teams should reach their ends of the A choke after 15 seconds.

Please let me know if there are any other problems, or if the timing needs a bit more work. Unfortunatley I don't have the resources to playtest right now, so your feedback is certainly welcome.

the maps playable in a match imo, a bit big but adds a new dimension :o/

The only true flaws that i can see are their is FAR too many lame spots to boost/hide in, makes it very hard for t's to get to a bombsite at all. It will kill some peoples pc's also :/ [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

vertigo is great, just not for wars. Jumping down the ladder as CT taking at the majority of T's before 30 seconds into the round, then suiciding off the building. I love it [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

A lot of people have commented on the timing to B especially, this will be the main fix for the next release. In addition, I'd like to make sure the CT's can get from A to B in enough time to be able to defuse. Hopefully, this should fix any problems

Just played this map.

First impressions , it's big , it's very big. Think i can remember how to get to one bombsite , but this map will need some exploring.

another new s*** map. like someone said earlier (soz cant remember who) we need more maps with the mill style. map makers need to realise that CS players dont want realistic maps that look pretty(torn airstrip etc), they want maps that play well in wars. until map makers realise this we will still keep being fed these bs maps [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Seems to be an aug suited map , it would be interesting who in a rush would reach the bombsite that ct's don't start in.

Dont like peopel saying "mappers should realise peopel want... BLAH" cos mappers do it for fun to test thier abilitys, he tryed somethign new.

Constructive critisism like "its too big" is far better than "its crap".

tbh, why was rotterdam ever taken out? if I remember correctly it was just starting to be accepted as a good war map :/

Rotterdam was a nice map to play, wasnt suited to 5v5 though I dont think. Then again never really tried to set up positions as CT, parts were so open so might of worked. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Transcend, no, just the recent ones. doom2 had a host of editors, deu2 was, naturally, the best of the lot!

They've said they're bundling the level creation tools with the game, so it's entirely possible their using a new one. They're not doing lightsourcing in the same way in the game so no light rendering s***e is getting compiled with the map. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
