Anomoly, over on gotFrag, has posted an article detailing what he describes as a 'look back' at the recent CXG fiasco. The article contains short interviews with the likes of Destrukt and Rival|Exile, amongst others. Here's the mandatory snippet:
"Time will tell what will happen in the aftermath of what was supposed to be a second great annual event next to the CPL. It could have been a big step for Esports in general, but instead, in my opinion, has become one of the biggest set backs we as a community have experienced. I know that the big sponsors that signed on to CXG will think twice about ever throwing their name in to the ring again."
You'll find the whole article over there.

Sujoy and I have been involved with tournaments at iGUK now for 3 years, for both CPL and WCG and our own. We get on great with many of the UK and European marketing teams of the games industry and they are not so afraid to put their name to events where they know that the organisation is in the hands of guys who do this as a living and have successful events behind them.
From what I hear, CXG was bad. Really bad. But there were not that many "big name" sponsors who DID put the hat in to that event. CXG were a little overeasy on what constituted a sponsor.
I remember last year another organiser billed nvidia as a major sponsor to their event but I discovered it had just been a meeting at ects and the "organiser" was given a goodie bag by some marketing assistant the same as everyone else. Oooog we are now sponsored by nvidia! was on the website the next day. lol. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
