One of the UK's oldest Counter-Strike teams, ClanONE, have today announced their decision to quit competitive gaming. The move comes after a period of activity dating back to UKT 5 where they defeated Infinity-eSports in the final to win their first ever major event.
ClanONE were relatively unknown in the competitive gaming scene until a good performance (beating nocturne) at the Summer 2002 CPL Qualifiers last year rocketed them to fame. Since then they have gone from strength to strength with good performances at nearly every event they attended. ClanONE might be best remembered for their tense game against 4K in the WCG 2002 Qualifiers in which they were narrowly defeated 11 - 13.
I spoke with ClanONE's Strikes who said the following:
Strikes - After a few weeks of seamus being inactive for personnel reasons we decided that without him we didn't want to carry on, re-recruiting was out of the question. Slowly we lost interest in the game and have decided to fold. I would like to thank everyone involved in ONE for their time and dedication. We all pretty much agreed that when 1 couldn't play anymore we would call it a day, and unfortunatly seamus (keiju) doesnt have time to play anymore because of his course which is not his fault! We had a good few years but all good things must come to an end!
UKT wishes the best of luck to the former members of ClanONE with whatever they choose to do.
