UK/IE Cup: Week 5, Day 3

The UK/IE CS Cup, which aims to stand out both as online and LAN event in the United Kingdom and Ireland, started its season with 136 accepted British and Irish CS teams. After the qualifiers this number was down to 40 teams in the Groupstage, which continues its last out of five weeks, wherein a lot of important decisions are finally made. Expect some edge of your seat games as no.1 seeded teams play no.2 seeds this week.

As I got back home very late after a day off at the other side of my precious dutchieland, I wasnt able to put up the fixtures and previews up for tonights matches, but was smacked into it by the matches and an unfortunate issue which had occured today.

Four Kings - c4u case

Shortly after my arrival I was contacted by Four Kings captain Mangiacapra who told me about cheating suspicion on c4u player wiLzOO in Tuesday's match against them.

Although there was a .avi on this circulating on the web already, over at Clanbase we usually refrain from using avis as evidence, because of its limitations, and certainly when there demos available, which was the case.

Fellow Clanbase CS Crew member Bleah (CS OC & CS NC sup) and myself watched the demos carefully and both came to the same conclusion: c4u|wiLzOOO did wallhack in this match.

The consequences of this are very clear, namely:

wiLzOOO will be permanently banned from Clanbase
c4u will be removed from the UK/IE Cup II (Spring 2004)
Group C will continue with just four teams remaining.

Both teams accepted this verdict, and together with the UK/IE Cup organisation regret this happened.

This even stupider to think that with over 700 people watching on HLTV and the amount of interest the game was going to attract that he thought he was going to get away with it especially with c4u already dubious online reputation.
