The UK/IE CS Cup, one of the prestigious and highly anticipated online CS competitions in the United Kingdom and Ireland, yet with LAN finals, started its season with 136 accepted British and Irish CS teams. After three rounds of qualifiers this amount was reduced to 40. The Groupstage's second out of five weeks ends this weekend, and some suprises are already happening.

Thursday's Results

8pm, UniCon 23 - 25 viva La resistance! (Group G), (nuke/cbble)
8.30pm, Four Kings Vs c4urself! (Group C), rescheduled to Tue 27th (nuke/cbble)
9pm, void.gaming Vs The Irish Connection.uk (Group G), rescheduled to Mon 19th (nuke/cbble)
contact! 13 - 35 CNN (former 2S) (Group B), (nuke/cbble)

Saturday's Result

4pm, twisted Reality 18 - 30 xtreme9 (Group H), (nuke/cbble)

These three latest results may have surprised quite a few, as all three relatively unknown winners take the lead in their groups, with two wins in two matches. It will be interesting to see if these positions can be maintained in their upcoming fixtures when CNN faces CAution! (replacement of the folded/split up team Landed), vLr! faces noLimit, and xtreme9 face Clan ONE.

it was a sat afternoon, the inet cafe was packed with COD c***s and people surfing the net so we had to use really low rates or we wld have 200 pings, we spiked most rounds anyway but we had no choice but to play.

funky, funny thing was i played fine on lan and all of tR will say it too in pcws and lan matches etc, just the official i played s*** ( every1 has s*** matches ) and im the kinda player which cant stop thinking bout wat ppl r saying on HLTV or wat they saying bout me/tR and when Eeon turned to me and said "all 60 ppl on hltv watching u ad" it made me play so s*** coz i cldnt stop thinking bout hltv :(((

Not that suprised at all tbh, until the lan cafe we had pld 2 pcw in almost 3 weeks because i've got my law finals coming up, we practised Nuke at the cafe and drew 12 all, we pld cbble once in pcw and so rightly got ownded by x9 who had practised it hard, low rates and spikey pings didnt help it much but hey as Mr Sinatra would say "Thats Life!"

i pld with blade for ages in fcc, he has a big problem with nerves in important matches, put him in a game vs SK that means nothing, with no1 watching and he will get 20-1

with 100 ppl on hltv vs (insert s*** clan) he will be w**k.

Being sol imo isnt just to do with aim etc, its do with with coping with the pressure that comes with having to adapt to an unfamilar enviroment and the knowledge that people are watching and judging u.

i know very little about blades performance's on lan and online so i wouldnt judge him. But to class someone as not only a good lan player but a good player in general, i think they need to be able to perform when there is pressure.

Im not gonna sprout on about the physicological implications of dealing with pressure because everyone reacts differently (nerves etc) and i know very little about it. What I will say is that experiencing pressure in online competitions can only help you deal with this when LAN comes around. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
