Map Updates

Posted by Gryff at 15:34 4/4/2003.

de_cpl_fire and de_comrade have both been pre-season maps for this season's CAL leagues. Responding to the feedback provided Barney has implemented some large changes to both. Here's the changelog for de_cpl_fire.

de_comrade hasn't been featured in any leagues this side of the Atlantic or indeed any CPL events but we hear is being considered for CAL. If it works well during the season then we may well see it feature in a CPL losers bracket. Here's the changelog:

As you can see he's done some major work on both maps.
Neither of the amended versions are available for download yet but you can be sure we'll let you know as soon as they are.

You can check out the screenshots of some of the updates on Barneys' Website

Don't like the new look of fire, but hopefully the changes will make it a bit more balanced now. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

I think the redone fire makes it look more like a normal map, it was texturally very dull before.

Much like the change between 1.5 and 1.6 de_inferno. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Because the CPL wants to introduce new competition maps, the CS bods care more about the unwashed masses. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

n@rby is the only current 'pro' mapper that really understands the needs of cs clans that take their cs seriously

in fact him and DaveJ are the only 2 (imo) who put gameplay before all else

this is why the cpl need custom maps made for them, as the list of official maps contains precious few that can be used in 'pro' matches

most mappers by nature are design orientated and always look for better ways to make their work better, nicer textures, complex brushes etc, but the fact is cs players prefer bland textures to distinguish enemies better, and simpler brushes (but not too plain). [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
