ATi and Abit Sponsor NoA

Posted by Myers at 09:20 19/7/2004.

Shortly after their victory at the ATi.Everlan event in Colorado Springs, ATi and ABit held a press conference at which they announced their support of Team NoA.

Team NoA were already sponsored by AMD, Chenbro and Kingston technology, the addition of two of the industry's most significant hardware companies ATi and ABit will easily rival the sponsors of any other side. Although there has been no press release made on the announcement yet. There was a brief statement on the NoA Website:

Big news for the future of Team NoA! Yesterday evening during a conference held at the ATi EverLAN in Colorado Springs, Colorado, ABIT and ATi announced their sponsorship of Team NoA! There will be more details released at a later date but please welcome our new Sponsors ABIT and ATi!

NoA’s matches went very well, with only two losses in the entire tournament, including the longest match in professional CS history, clocking in at a staggering two hours and fourty-five minutes on de_nuke against TEC.

MonkH how can they have possibly played 2 hours 45 minutes? mr 12 = 24x3 - 72 mr 15 = 30x3 = 90. unless they were playing stupidly high round time, which is a kind of cheating way of being the longest game ;S [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

ATI lose this time round. Nvidia did skip a core though to keep up with them.

When nForce4 comes out nvidia will be leaving ATi behind even further.

SLI = 2 Vid cards!

Shame they're only offering them for the 6800 Ultra/GT range which would make your video card pricing come in at just under a grand, but you'll have a nice 77% performance increase :o [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

6800's are like £300, if not less. I don't see where you're getting this "just under a grand" thing from, unless you're including the PCI-E mobo or something. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Average Ultra/GT card is about £320-£400. I'd say around the £800 mark is 'just under a grand'. And I wouldn't be surprised if the PCI-X range are more expensive, not to mention that little chip that's gonna combine them. I doubt they'll be selling it with the card, it'll be something you have to buy after you've bought two vid cards. So yeah, 'just under a grand' is about right. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

"NVIDIA SLI is going to be very costly and implementation of it will likely run over US$1300 considering two GeForce 6800Ultras and a motherboard to suit them will need to be purchased. Possibly a new power supply would be required as well depending on the wattage of your current unit."

I'm thinking about doing something here, maybe a weekly "Best of UKT" feature, or something more historical. Absolutely nothing topical!
