PC Gamer have announced on their website that they have partnered up with AMD to launch a new clan. The new team, to be named "Team AMD Gamer" will be sponsored by AMD and will receive coverage by PC Gamer, there is no news yet as to who will be in the team, but contact details have been posted so that people who are interested can apply.
To be in with a chance of joining the elite clan, email tag@futurenet.co.uk and tell us who you are, which clan you're currently a member of, and any details of relevant experience or tournament results.
Here is a snippet from the statement on their site:
PC Gamer has teamed up with microprocessor company AMD to recruit and promote a gaming clan to play in PC games tournaments - and this is your opportunity to get involved.TAG - Team AMD Gamer - will consists of a clan of pro-standard gamers who will be sponsored and equipped by AMD using their cutting-edge AMD64 technology. The team will play in regular online events and attend and compete in leading tournaments across the world.
This definitely looks like an excellent an opportunity, not only for a team to be able to compete along side the likes of 4Kings and SK, but also to promote the UK gaming community as a whole.

Looking at it from a purely commercial aspect, it still makes more sense to integrate an established clan than form a new one. A fresh team without a good deal of luck is going to take around 6 months to mature into a stable, capable side. That's a lot of time to wait and a lot of money to invest in a venture with a very small likelihood of showing any real success or return on the investment put in. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

People mock 'Pro' gaming because yes its a geeky thing to do and its not gonna impress the ladies, but lets face it, if any person who posted on this website got offered to go to Dallas for free, play a computer game and possibly come home with $40,000 prize money, i dont think many people would turn it down?
