Here at UKTerrorist we've interviewed the top players, event organisers, CS developers, mappers, anti-cheat software developers, even eachother. Unfortunately we were bound to run out of ideas, so out of sheer desperation we find ourselves interviewing freelance gaming journalist Jim Rossignol.
Jim has contributed to most of the UK's major gaming publications both PC and console. He was also a staff writer for PCGamer before deciding to become a freelance journalist. Jim is one of the few lucky reporters who played the much anticipated Doom 3 and is an avid multiplayer gamer. Jim through his publications manages to bring a coolness to geekdom not witnessed since Quentin Tarantino first hit the limelight.
Here's a snippet from the interview:
With millions playing games worldwide, what advice would you give to those wishing to follow in your footsteps and become a gaming journalist?
Start writing *now*. It's too easy to put it off, to go and do other things. If you don't write all the time about your chosen subject you'll never get any good at it. And playing games isn't enough - you'll need to read a wide range of topics, especially journalism. The more you read the easier it is to steal other people's ways of dealing with their subjects and make them your own. The more you read, the more ways you'll have of saying interesting things, and that's what keeps audiences, and editors, reading your work.

He was a lucky bugger though! It sounds like his first role landed in his lap! Breaking into the video game industry without the proper qualifications, experience or contacts is VERY hard. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
