Paul Shuttle, self-proclaimed level designer has written up a short article (rant?), entitled 'What happened to the love?':"Browsing the CS Forums recently, I noticed a post by 3D Mike, in which he stated that if his latest map didn’t make it into Counter-Strike, he would give up mapping. Now, this got me thinking:What happened to the love?
Not so long ago, people made maps because they enjoyed designing. Nothing more, nothing less. Sure, it was always nice to get recognition for your work, but that was always only a bonus. Primarily, people designed for the love of it."
I especially like the Jerry Springer-esque tone to the piece, so check it out.
