"So there I was. CS loaded, the map came up ( cs_thunder) and I was in. The first thing to greet me was some player called H@xZ0rZ. Apparently my ping of 25 was in some way offensive to him and I was branded a loozer against his leet skillz, even though I was killing him every time. But I just thought it was him having a problem with dying so I ignored it. After about 20 seconds into the round I would find my self being the only guy left. So I did what I have always done when 4 or 5 guys with guns are stalking me ;-) I hid. Now I'm not the best player by a long stretch but I found myself picking up about 4 kills per round doing this. It was only after a couple of long 1 or 2 minute stalking rounds that I really got the angry comments. All the players on both teams were getting pissed at my style of play and shouting things like camper, whore, N00b and other niceties."

CS has definitely changed since it's release, but obviously that's because it now reaches a much wider audience. When it started out, it had people who enjoyed playing small HL mods whereas now it's a stand alone game that anybody can buy...you have to expect the 'community' to change with the popularity, albeit for the worst.
