UniCon National LAN Championships - Spring 2005 & Easter BYOC

Unicon have today announced the UniCon National LAN Championships - Spring 2005 & Easter BYOC. There is a total cash prize fund of £5000 as well as prizes to be included by their sponsors such as Sapphire Tech.

The tournament will be a 32-team competition and with eight LAN qualifiers of which the teams will have to attend two. The top eight teams will then attend the LAN final to get their hand on some prize money. The £5000 will be shared out as so:

1st: £2,000 + 5 Sapphire video cards
2nd: £1,000
3rd: £500
4-8th: £300

The eight qualifying events will take place at Unicon Gaming centre and will start in the last weekend in February and the finals will be played in March along with the BYOC event, here are the dates:

Qualifiers

February 2005 - 26th / 27th
March 2005 - 5th / 6th / 12th / 13th / 19th / 20^th

National Finals & Easter BYOC

March 2005 - 25th / 26^th(NF) / 27th / 28^th

The entry fee for this event will be £25 per person for each qualifying event and the top eight teams all receiving free entry into the BYOC event, the price for the four day Easter BYOC event will also be £25 per person.

	Atemi ForsakeN 19:12 2/2/2005	make that 50 cos u have to attend 2 minimum and more if your team have not done enough after 2 to qualify for the finals, so you can see where the prize money comes from. not a bad idea but im not sure about 25 quid for a qualifier when all you stand to gain is effectivly "points". 	Atemi ForsakeN 19:22 2/2/2005	altho if the 4-8th: £300 is 300 for each team, then if you qualify in 2 attempts but come in that bracket, you dont actually make that much of a loss in the end. anyway its summit different than the usual 1 day cups they run so i applaud them for that, just think maybe the entry fee could of been dropped a bit and then prizes been boosted back up by not giving out money to teams who dont win a game all day. Otherwise they're either out of pocket or breaking even, which isnt much of a business plan. Unless they can expand like to be something like the-hub this is their only real form of income. I cusnt careless about my performances at Unicon cuz i have more important things to worry myself about. Just stating that all the times ive played at Unicon the pcs (and ive played on a few there) struggled to get more then 50fps out of them when an opponant stood infront of me. And god help it if someone thru a smoke. I struggled to play well on them because A. Im not that good anyway B.
