It was claimed that 2005 will be the best year for competitive gaming and so far we are only 18 days in - it certainly hasn't let us down. With the announcement of WEG and Clanbase's EurocupXI, Game-Hosting, along with Shuttle and Sennheiser, have joined forces and provided the gaming community with an online competition, namely The Arctic E-Sport Challenge 2005.
The Arctic E-Sport Challenge, first held in 2003, will be giving away €28720 in prizes to the eventual winners of the CoD, BF1942 and CS tournaments. With the first games starting on the 14th February sign-ups are already open until the 7th February, giving the lazy among us just under 3 weeks to sign up.
The only factors that could possibly be looked down upon is the entry fee and the servers. The CS tournament will cost you €25 for your whole team to enter however in return, apart from the obvious prizes, is the "fair play and cheat free" games the Game-Hosting Servers will provide you with (allegedly). Servers will be based in Stockholm, Amsterdam and Frankfurt.
Visit Game-Hosting or #arctic.cs for more information.
Want prizes? Can't play to save your life? You could aslways sign up to be a match admin and get a chance to win €305 in hardware.

CS 1.6 MADE competitive gaming the thing it is today, if s***e games like source become more popular at these events lets wave good bye to an expanding and more popular gaming community. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Like it or not, Source is pretty much inevitable. The only hope we have is to actually make it decent. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

I'm not saying Source is a good thing, but unfortunately, most people will follow the trend/flashy graphics, and there'll be very few people left playing 1.6, and that's if Valve don't do something shifty like pull Steam support for it, in which case you'll have pretty much no chance. Just look at CPL being flamed since ESWC said they'll stick with 1.6 until it's not viable [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
