It seems as though there may be trouble brewing in the TAG camp following an announcement on their website. It states the team will not be in attendance at the CPL Winter championships due to "protracted contract negotiations to ensure the long-term success of PC Gamer’s multi-gaming team". Not only this but it also seems AMD and Future Publishing, the two main bodies backing the team have parted ways. The reason for this is unclear but rest assured this isn't the end of TAG as we know it. Although a name change has been prescribed, to Team PC Gamer, assurances have been made that talks with other potential sponsors are underway.
So far no formal announcement has been made of a new name change or new lead sponsor for the team but the statement goes on to say "The delay in announcing the new sponsor, and a new team name is testament to the amount of interest in the UK's number one professional gaming team."
How this has affected the players in TPCG remains to be seen and time will tell what further information is released on the matter. This does however mean that 4Kings are the UK's only hope at the CPL Winter event but im sure come CPL Summer 2005 we will see two, if not more UK teams competing for dominance.

It's a joke tbh - this sort of thing is what we've come to expect from top UK cs teams - but I thought TAG were above it.
Well I suppose the team was created to challenge 4Ks supremacy - recently they've had trouble challenging the likes of CTX and c4U, if the results don't warrant the sponsorship then I guess this was always going to happen.

2 questions to summarise.
when did tag form?
is tag a cs only team?
the answers are december 03' and NO.
the COD, UT and WC3 teams have done remarkably well throughout the year while the cs team has probably slightly underachieved. However with the cpl removing cs 1.6 its fairly doubtful they would make a decision of this nature based on an underachieving cs team.
and to clarify the first question. Right from the off, it was blatantly a 12month contract. If AMD leave it till the last minute to say there pulling out, then how does any of the blame lie with PC GAMER or the players?
