It has been announced today, that Gameplay, who own Wireplay are to sell off some of the areas of the business.As you'll no doubt be aware by now it was announced today that gameplay is selling off the final areas of its business. The majority of the remaining staff, including all of us at Wireplay have been made redundant.This does not mean that Wireplay has been shut down. All of the service (forums, irc, game servers etc) will continue to run for the foreseeable future. Those of us who've been made redundant are committed to work on Wireplay in our free time, although we will unlikely be able to offer the same levels of support as we currently do.
This is a real shame, because without Wireplay I might not have got into online gaming when I did. I still remember those 2p a minute days! Hopefully the market will pick up, but looking at the current situation that seems fairly unlikely.
