Gamespy look at Multicast Technology

Gamespy have completed their trilogy of articles looking at Valve's new technology. This time around it's the Multicast streaming technology, which looks very snazzy indeed!

With this new proprietary tech, players will be able to control the action and watch games like they were in the production truck during an NFL game. "The Multicast Spectator Mode is designed to allow thousands, if not millions, to watch a single multiplayer match," explains Johnson. "Spectators can access a single game, giving them the opportunity to learn gameplay elements, study individual and team strategies, or simply enjoy the action."

This will be of interest to anyone who's ever tried to be a spectator in IRC! Hopefully this will be in place by the time i8 comes around, and we'll get to actually see something on the 'B1G 5CR33N' (assuming they don't put it in direct sunlight again!).
