CSGN League

The CSGN League is one of the best CS competitions the United Kingdom has to offer, hosting lots of quality matches each week. Allthough the league is virtually in between seasons with only a few catchup games to be played and the leaguewinners cup about to start, we bring you some interesting news..

CSGN Headadmin Stono announced the creation and opening of signups of CSGN's first ladder, which will, apart from what CSGN is known for allready, its league, expand its focus to more of the main stream competitive gamers.

Here is part of the statement:

As many of you know I've been working on this for quite a while now but its finally at the stage to accept signups.

This ladder follows a similar format to many other ladders about at the moment but our selection process is much more strict. Every team that requests to join one of our ladders will be reviewed by one of our admin team to decide if you are suitable. There are a few basic rules to follow before you signup to the ladder, complete these to save your time and ours:

1. At least 5 registered members with steam_ids on CSGN.
2. A working website with a member list.
3. Preferably an active IRC channel to allow people to contact you easily.

If you don’t get accepted into CSGN this is a brilliant opportunity to prove yourself in our ladder, perform well in this and your chances of joining CSGN next season are improved.

NOTE:
The ladder is only open for signups at the moment, nothing more. Once we have 50 teams signed up and accepted into the ladder we will begin games.

For detailed instructions how to sign up check out the CSGN website or stop by in their irc channel: #csgn .

The best of luck to CSGN with this new addition, as it looks like a promising (and likely an even better) alternative to the current monopolists of the mainstream level of CS clan gaming in the United Kingdom: EnemyDown and the Clanbase UK CS ladder(s), as it might also attract more of the actual more gifted teams, which the two mentioned currently lack.

If they can regulate the ladder properly and most of the good teams sign up then the Ladder could be a great place for proper arranged practice clan wars. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

ladders r pointless

u get s*** clans who win 3 matches and r top not accepting challenges and s*** becoz they wanna stay in #1 would be good if they were made to accept the challenges [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

You can't have two monopolies (not monopolists) Zorro you silly :P. It's duopoly in this case. :)

I can see why CSGN went for the ladder (loads of clans want to be in CSGN), but I personally don't think it'll work. GL to them though, they know how to run a good league. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Points should deteriorate at an exponentially increasing rate for inactivity to stop teams from sitting at the top spots. 1 week with no games, lose x points. 2 weeks, lose x^2 etc. Unless they set holiday mode which'll let them do nowt for a fortnight and usable Y times a year, or go into hibernation which removes them from the ladder [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
Stono
15:18 24/3/2004
well at the moment you go into automatic hibernation after ?25? days and have a fair few points automatically deducted.

and you can get to the top without playing the top :o so nobdy will be sitting their for long.

the way the algorithem for points is designed is also good because you wont have the "im not playing you, your too low" effect, its not as harsh as the way CB give points.

Its easyier if you play around with it: http://www.csgn.co.uk/ladder_Workoutscore.asp

Any more questions :o [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Ok based on doz's comments ive made the following changes

Inactive for 7 days = 50 points penalty
Inactive for 20 days = an additional 100 points penalty

inactive for 40 days = an additional 150 points penalty and automatic hibernation [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

if a clan starts just playing cheap games against lower teams and manages to stay at the top its hardly gonna last long... admins will dominate them with a fishing hook and pin them for the 1..2..3 [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

i wouldnt hardly call us ed v2, their are so many fundamental differences between the two.

You all accept the ladders that are out their ATM are not so good so whats the harm in trying to create a decent one? Its only the same goals we had when we started the league - no good leagues.. lets make one and look where it has got us:D

You have to bear in mind that there are hundrads of teams that dont get to play in CSGN each season but feel they should be in, heres a chance for them to prove themselfs :D [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

especially with the amount of leagues/ladders/cups going round at the momeny, better clans who are in all of these, (eweb, xgc, uk/iecup, csgn) etc may not have enuf time to play within 7 days!

i think 10 is reasonable. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

As much as i can see the need for penalties - seven days is pretty skinny.
For us old peeps who work and have non-computer commitments it's difficult to schedule a deffo night every week.
10 days gives a bit of leeway. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Ok, im leaving it at 7 days but the penalty has been changed from 50 to 5% of your current points,

ie if you have 1000 penalty = 50
if you have 500 penalty = 25 [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Just a query but wouldnt it be easier to wait for the new season? Sounds like a good idea, but surely its more worth while increasing the size of the leagues and adding another Flight of Divisions. Dunno summink like pr0 Wannabees League ¬_¬ SAFE! [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

It's only in the Beta stages, and will be used as a reference point when accepting clans for the league (I assume) :) [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
