The WORST thing about these 'merc' clans not just the odd merc brought in to help a team out save them not going, is the fact that alot of the time they take pts away from the tournament. Although deserved on the day, these clans have no intention of returning, are just one offs and have eating pts that would have gone to the other clans attending more often...like o:i, pro gamers, SFAL (dropped to ama tourney to allow one to play, lost out because of a 'merc' clan using players from the pro tourney and would have got some pts atleast giving them a shot at the finals!) It's got holes all over unless u take a large number of clans into the finals that have attended your other UKT lans, helping swell the prize fund! [ Comment: Report \| IP: Logged ]

	ferrers Sniper's Alley 12:59 7/10/2003	I do think that perhaps you should only have been able to play for one team over the course of the event. I think if you asked the teams that did play just for the one event with mercs they would be happy just for the fact of attending and playing and wouldnt really mind if they got the points or not. 	Katori Choke 13:05 7/10/2003	The “mercing” / “mix” side of UK LAN events is always gonna be an area of debate, In light of the fact that most people consider LAN results to have more weight than Online results. When a lot of individuals belittle clans with good online results but no LAN history, it raises the question of how much weight do the LAN results carry from teams who do not compete with their proper line ups or are simply a mix team? Admittedly you have to accept the fact that clans can suffer being let down at the last minute by individuals and need someone to step in, which is better than them not playing at all, but that too can open the debate of rank/points legitimacy. Something could do with being put in place, as has been discussed in the past, to stop this from happening, other than just better forward planning from Clans team members. 	Ocean Puk Kai 13:18 7/10/2003	i think you should do something like.. every team on UKT add your members to their clan on this clan database thingy (the clan name below your name) on the website. and each member not being able to be added to more than one clan, which is how it should be already. and future UKTs only allowed you to play members that are listed in your clan list. and maybe we could recognise some of the members by face even if they try to 'help out' another clan. cos it's hardly unfair that you should use members that arent in your clan, cos it doesnt reflect your clan. you mustnt forget the point of clans.
