The organisers of the Electronic Sports World Cup recently announced their goals for their 2nd event near year. ESWC 2003 raised the bar in many areas of eSports especially with superb coverage, elaborate stages which included heartbeat monitors and accomodating the players extremely well. After the disappointments of ClikArena and WCG-Europe, France will rely heavily on ESWC 2004 being a success to prove to the world that they are a major force in eSports culture.
So how can ESWC 04 top last year's competition? Here's a snippet of the statement:
In 2004, Ligarena will be organizing the 2nd Electronic Sports World Cup.Starting in January, qualifiers of national champions will oppose all type of skills and arts of war over 6 months all around the world. At the beginning of summer 2004, the Grand Final will be one week of furious fun with a minimum of 200,000 dollars of prize money. 500 top gamers are expected to compete for the trophies.
The challenge: more entertainment, more emotion and an even greater audience for a show based on the games. A dedicated television program, international media agreements and a daily broadcast of the event by satellite and broadband will be part of the set-up. Beside the tournaments, with its concerts and interactive attractions, the Electronic Sports World Cup 2004 Grand Final is set to become also a digital festival. 30,000 spectators are expected to join the festivities.
You can read the rest of the statement over at the ESWC website.
