A not so very nice review of CS:CZ has appeared over on a website called “Computer and Video Games”. Below is a quote:
And what of the new tools we've heard so much about? The radio, the blowtorch, the fibre optics? One word. Pointless. All of the new tools can only be used in designated areas, which may as well come replete with flashing signs saying 'Use Blowtorch Here To Progress'. The missions are more scripted than the WWE, and within hours the whole affair becomes monumentally tedious, with an avalanche of glitches and shortcomings jumping out at you like a swarm of virtual fleas.
PC Gamer is next inline with a CS:CZ review and it is also very critical about the game. CS:CZ scores only 65% from the magazine and receives this little summary:
Achingly average in all respects, save the addition of classic multiplayer Counter-Strike
German magazine “Gamestar” has also done a CS:CZ review in which the game also scores low with a poor 59/100. Unfortunately no scans or web versions are available, only print.
Even though the above reviews were done based on what can't be proven as a 'finalised' game there is only so much VALVe and Ritual can change before its release. So with these poor reviews of the game as well as the news that Ritual have finished work on CS:CZ but VALVe are holding it back (see: this forum post), it isn’t looking promising at all.
