Bad news for CSCentral / Joolz retires / CPL 2004 Information
Posted by Dev at 00:39 6/8/2003.
Some random newsbits for you at this early hour so sit back and enjoy.
- Firstly CSCentral have suffered some major problems and as a result have lost all news items posted after June 2002. Quite harsh as I'm sure you agree so join me in wishing good luck to CSC in the future.
- Secondly 'Joolz', the famous creator of cheats such as MetaCheat has decided to call it a day. In an open letter to the Half-Life community he states that although VAC is a good anti-cheat it has many flaws which are commonly known throughout the community. If you can't be bothered to read the whole letter I'll give you a teaser quote:
If VALVe had spoken to me, I would have helped them out. If United Admins had trusted me, I would have been able to contribute and help build effective anti-cheat mechanisms ... Although I'm leaving, other people will take up the baton and produce bigger and better cheats. That needs to be realised by all you people that just like to flame people saying how wrong they are to cheat etc... The community as a whole needs to grow up and realise that cheating is here to stay, it will never go away.
With Half-Life I can't help but thinking his words are true but hopefully with Half-Life 2 and games in the future cheating will be come less common. - Finally Angel Munoz announced some information about the CPL 2004 events. Firstly he stated that the prices will not be higher and that to mock the 'Gaylord Entertainment' name shows "crass immaturity". He also announced that in total the CPL will give away around $1,000,000 in prizes and cash next year, Also plans for CPL Asia are in the pipe line, more to be announced on that later.

I mean come on ffs, look how buggy the HL engine is, and it's barely got any highly efficient working cheats as it is.. If you ask me, he kinda does make it sound like they're getting too much for him.
I don't respect that lame piece of s*** one bit, I just pity him that he thinks he is some sort of hero.
Will people make bigger and better cheats? No, not likely. Cheats now compared to a year ago are nothing, all I see is a decline in it.
It's also pretty unlikely HL2 will face many cheats at all too. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

any firewall can be broken, same way as any anti-cheat protection can be broken...i think thats what he meant by bigger cheats...just that theirs going to be more time put into them and a time will come when cheat coders find flaws in the design and they will create their cheats in such a way that its hard to stop it :) [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Then the cheats are less likely to splash out the £35 for HL2.
Which should reduce cheats atleast for a while. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
