The CPL Pentium® 4 Processor Summer 2003 Championship - Review

As the CPL Summer 2003 Championships are behind us, no more will they grace the gaming world (for the immediate future they will not anyway) because as of next year changes will be made to summer event. Whatever way you look at it the Summer CPL events have brought us excitement, entertainment, joy, anger and pleasure in one way or another. There seems to be a certain magic about the event which makes it worth following and this year was no exception. 100 matches were played and UKTerrorist was there to cover it all, me and Arsen hope you liked this year’s coverage and hopefully we will be here to do it again when the CPL moves to newer pastures.

This year the tournament had it all from tense overtimes to big name teams being eliminated early, whatever tickles your fancy it was delivered in one way or another. Below is a breakdown of the final placings and the prize money earned:

1. Schroet Kommando - $60,000 & an autoberth to CPL Copenhagen
2. Team9 - $42,000
3. 3D - $28,000
4. a-L.MSI - $18,000
5. Four-Kings.Intel - $12,000
6. Echo7 - $10,000
7. RDW - $6,000
8. Forsaken - $4,000
9. TAU - $3,000
10. Gamers-X - $3,000
11. zEx - $3,000
12. Gamesimplex - $3,000
13. Titans GBR - $2,000
14. Good Game - $2,000
15. e2sports - $2,000
16. MIBR - $2,000

The European teams seem to dominate the higher place finishes as only 1 American team made it into the top 5. 4K, A-Losers, Echo7, TAU and Forsaken can all walk away knowing they had good tournaments whilst MIBR, Good Game, TEC and zEx will be left wondering what went wrong. I would just like to also point your attention to the huge amount of coverage the tournament received from other internet sources and below are a few for you to peruse over if you haven't already:

• SoGamed provided up to the date scores as well as a small blurb on the top 62 teams attending. They also have a small amount of demos available to download.
• Net Fire have a nice library of videos which contain interviews with the likes of 4K's DarK and SK's BDS. As well as this they have an extensive amount of demos available for download.
• gotFrag? had it all really from audio interviews to team bios. As well as this they have the full list of results like UKTerrorist and some neat little extra's and round ups for you to read.
• Gamers.nu have the biggest available photo gallery (gold members only) as well as mini round ups and a very interesting audio interview with Team9.Freaks4u Vesslan.

With that people I shall leave you to ponder what could have been if Morgan hadn't of won the 1v3 with a deagle, what could have been if the seeding were more accurate and what lies in store for us at the next CPL event which is CPL Copenhagen later this year.
