VALVe have teamed up with Plantronics to bring you Counter-Strike™ Headsets for Voice Communication. The specially created headsets do actually look pretty decent. Here a quote from the press release:
Valve, creators of Counter-Strike and Half-Life(R), and Plantronics, a leading manufacturer of computer headsets, today unveiled a custom Counter-Strike headset. Based on the Plantronics' popular DSP-500, this plug-and-play USB headset features DSP technology and Counter-Strike's distinctive branding. Generating over 4.5 billion player minutes per month, Counter-Strike is the number 1 online action game in the world.
You can find the headset right here (top one) as well as all the other available Plantronics headsets, including the original DSP-500 PC Headset. For me it seems the only difference is the colour and the adition of a few 'Counter-Strike logos', however the DSP-500 are a good headset so it doesn't surprise me VALVe chose this for their marketing. Another reason this interested me was that if VALVe are expanding CS merchandise then there must be some form of long term future planned for Counter-Strike, in what form however remains to be seen.

I'm rambling on, yes, but really the HD600s (or even more expensive headphones) should be at the top of everyones shopping list. It's impossible to convince people of this until they actually hear what they sound like though, oh well.
Listening to music through my old £40 headphones, being used to the 600s is as frustrating to me as using a flaky 14" monitor at 60hz refresh after being used to a decent quality 21". [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Besides I've got an Audigy Player and using USB headphones with that would just be criminal :) [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

As for using them with CS, there's not really much advantage as the quality of SFX in CS is so crap. They're really for music, but if you have a pair you won't want to listen to music through anything else [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
