UKTerrorist 2003 LAN Championships 4

Many of you have been asking me when UKT4 will be and today I can announce that UKT4 will be a 2 day event taking place on the 19th - 20th July at the Northampton IT-Centre.

The first day (Saturday 19th July) will be a group stages event with 24 teams in 6 groups of 4 battling it out to make it through to the double elimination stage. The current top 4 teams in the UKT LAN Championships rankings that apply will be given a bye straight to the Sunday and will join the 12 teams that qualify from the group stages.

2 groups will run at a time with each team attending given a time to be at the LAN centre for. Due to fire restrictions once your group has finished we might ask you to leave. Those of you that have attended before are aware how crowded the centre can get. We are currently looking into accomodation for 80 or so players/spectators overnight, this might be an agreement with a local B&B or sleeping bag accomodation somewhere. I'll update as soon as I know.

We are considering running an allnighter on the Saturday night, however this would greatly rely upon interest. So let me know if you would like to attend.

Sunday will be the traditional 16 team double elimination, no explanation needed, except we will have to start earlier (8:30am) to ensure that players can still catch their trains and to give those that have work the next day a chance to get some sleep that night.

Despite this being a two day event the price will remain at £15 with the 6th player from a team only paying £5. Spectators will be charged £5 for each day they are in attendance. Anyone that would like to volunteer their services to help out at the event would gain free entry and would be greatly appreciated. These events are not the easiest to run and for a two day event we will need several admins.

The signup form will go live tomorrow (Monday) at 7:00pm. Any signups before this time will be discarded.

15:57 15/6/2003		 maybe an alternative could be devised eg, some team's could play online vs the guys at lan, i'm sure if ppl are that desperate to take part but the funding is against them, they should atleast be allowed to attempt to play online against lan, sure ppl will go, fo ur cfg'ing online etc but that wud be one of the risks the organisers would have to take. still think it's an "alright" alternative tho as clan's and players are so far spread it makes it impossible for everyone to attend especially as it's so far down south, maybe should look at having one in the mid-land's. The only solution i can offer is a 5 day return train ticket, shouldn't cost that much more than what you usually get
