Whilst doing a morning browse for news I saw something interesting on the iGamesUK website it seems that the important announcement which was talked about last week on this very website when they changed the company name from 'The VGA' to 'iGamesUK' has today been revealed.
iGames UK have negotiated an investment by NVIDIA to upgrade all iGames UK gaming centres to the latest in technology, the GeForce FX. This investment is for all current iGames centres and any new members joining in the near future.
Dominic Mulroy had this to say:
The dawn of cinematic gaming has arrived with the GeForce FX family of graphics processing units. iGames UK had no doubt that the industry-renowned software compatibility, reliability, and stability that comes hand in hand with NVIDIA will ensure that our 70+ UK member centres will provide their customers the latest cutting edge technology to support their game playing experiene.
The actual card(s) which will be used are the Gainward GeForce FX 5600 ultra and the Gainward GeForce FX 5800 Ultra.
With all this announced as well as the Nvidia gaming centre alliance could we see more games being specifically designed to suit the Nvidia gfx cards?

No, but you'll see more "f***, ATi have better graphics cards than us, so let's give away as many FXs as possible to make them look great!"
Not that the LAN centres being upgraded is a bad thing, quite the contrary, but the reasons for the deal are hardly Good Samaritan-like. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

lol
Nice bit of mutual back scratching, igames get a load of free cards and nvidia get to look like they are supporting the community.

Well what you said implied that the resons for it were to make the geforceFX look like a good card.
whilst i said that it would look like they are supporting the gaming community. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

I mean a good card can make the company look good, but a good brand image dosen't make the cards performance any better. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

5800 ultra is the best they have to offer, but it wouldve been better to hook up with Ati and got some 9700 pro's in there, their dominatnig all atm. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Sigh. How do you think companies get good reputations in the first place? [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

poo! 5800Ultra is no budget card (£330), it was designed to be the fastest thing out there, and briefly it was but only in raw power. The 5600 is pretty expensive too @ £200 [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
