The third and final week of group matches has finished in the first ever-female nations cup. The playoff games have been decided as we move down to the final 8 teams. Here is a round up of the results from those last group games:Group APortugal managed to bag their first win against a poor Austrian side but unfortunately it came a tad late as Russia and Denmark were already through.
Portugal 41 – 7 Austria
Denmark 31 – 17 Russia
Group BThe French ladies managed to overcome their Dutch opponents in a fairly one sided game to take the playoff place. Norway who had the week off were already guaranteed a place in the playoffs.
France 41 – 7 The Netherlands
Group CThis group C game was make or break as the winner along with Germany would progress into the playoffs. Unfortunately for Switzerland they were not strong enough on Aztec to overcome the ladies from Belgium.
Belgium 33 – 15 Switzerland
Group DToo little too late for the UK ladies who although picking up a fine victory against the Polish ladies did not qualify for the playoff phase. Spain continued to dominate the group keeping their 100% record in tact.
UK 36 – 12 Poland
Spain 29 – 19 Sweden
With the chaos of the group stage over with it is now down to the final 8 to keep us excited over the next few weeks. aNouC sends word that no games will take place before the 6th of January in the next stage. Here are the fixtures for the ¼ finals:
Denmark vs. FranceAlthough it may be a little too early for me to pick a winner I am anticipating a Germany/Spain final. Good luck to all the ladies involved and don’t forget for all information on the tournament itself check out its official website.
Spain vs. Belgium
Germany vs. Sweden
Norway vs. Russia
