CounterStrike Nations Cup III - week 2 round up

As the second week of the third Nations Cup passes by many of the more familiar big names continue to do well with the UK stumbling to another defeat. Here is a round up:

Group A
Sweden 32 - 16 Estonia
Austria 34 - 14 Russia

This group is really a two-way race between Sweden and Austria. Both teams have won their two games with Russia and Estonia being the victims both times. The two teams will play each other in the coming week of group matches to decide who finishes top spot in group A.

Group B
The Netherlands 29 - 19 Spain
United Kingdom 19 - 29 Finland

Another loss for the UK team gives them very little hope at getting a playoff place. The game was close up until the 4th and final quarter on de_train. The UK team needed a strong show as Terrorists but only managed to get 2 rounds losing that quarter 10-2. On the other hand the Dutch contingent of aki, op, huxa, kr1dd0 and kwak was too strong for the Spanish, leaving the Dutch in a nice position in Group B.

Group C
Iceland 30 - 18 Belgium
Germany 39 - 9 Switzerland

In an interesting turn of events, the Belgium team won the match against Iceland but had 8 rounds deducted for violating the 'Flash bang Over Wall' bug (Throwing grenades through the skybox over walls is not allowed). This changed the whole result of the match and Iceland came out on top 30-18. Germany continues to look strong.

Group D
Denmark 36 - 12 Poland
Norway 27 - 21 Slovakia

Norway pulled out the important round in a nice match against Slovakia to pick up the win; with Denmark leaving there playoff chasing rivals Poland wondering what went wrong.

Overall an interesting week of action in the Nations Cup. Lets only hope it continues to give us the same level of entertainment. You can find all the information on the Cup here.

	shads theb0g 17:29 9/12/2002	mooter, khaos only just got adsl that day didn't he, he had f*** all practice himself, and as for the team, they had near to no pcws etc or real tactics sorted from what i hear, so i wouldnt blame the fact that we put our "best team out" and got whipped, but we put our best team of skilled but unprepared & unpracticed people out against a team that was more up for it on the day. 	j0nb0y 18:10 9/12/2002	I'm well gutted at the result, we get in two practices for this match too (albeit not with the match team) so we can't plead that we had no preparation. It has been a very disappointing Nations Cup for everyone I'm sure, including myself. Due to CPL/Intel Masters close by I have had next to zero time with the players. I think I cancelled more PCWs than we actually played due to not having a team available. To you sceptics: it was a poor season for Team UK I agree, I'm more than willing to take my share of the blame and I don't expect the disappointing results to be overlooked. The people willing to spend a long time going over tactics and getting teamplay right?
