We had loads of fun too, our first lan, we had at my house, with myself Sean([6k^]MadSpunk) + Zac([6k^R3lish]), we went out and bought a hub, we were going to PCWorld but we couldn't be arsed and got some s***ty 10mb/s 5 port hub, took me 12 hours to set up our PCs, which was slightly shameful, the problem being Zac had a spare network card but he didnt know it, so we had some conflict which caused him to lag like a b***h, luckily on the 2nd day it only took me 5 mins to set the lan up,
the next time we lanned, myself, Sean and Zac spent 3 hours putting tactics on to some print outs of CS2D maps sean had made and eventually Ryan([6k^]FaceJam) and a friend of the clan (G!R.Lumleh) arrived from newcastle with their PCs, we set up a 5 man lan but stupid me had only enuff tables / chairs for 4, so I ended up sitting on the sofa lol
ah the fun, on the saturday we went to the WCG qualifiers and to our surprise 4Kings were there, none of them had gun models, but my friends said they were tweaking their FPS, I didn't speak to them personally but sean said they were amicable guys, I looked back for them and they had disappeared, they'd all gone to the toilet and they came out with smiles on their faces, this has left me bemused for years
the timetables were up and we took a look, 'm0o' now who the f*** are m0o says us, they must be s***, the map was dust, our worst map and we dredded it, we had to wait 2/3 hrs for the start, eventually we sat down and configurred our keys, at this time we didn't know about ex_interp, which we have set to default, we set our rate to 10000 cl_cmdrate 40 cl_updaterate 40, we thought these were the highest values u could get
that night though we had fun, played a clan war with 4 of us lanned up and won, the guys played into the early hours and had dinner at mine the next day, everyone left a bit miserable we'd lost the first match at the lan but happy we'd all lanned up and met each other.
So as u can see, we've also had similar problems

watched the 1st game u were all a bit shaky but still managed to overcome the early nerves.
I wanted to watch u guys go all the way but with all that happened there was no point in staying.
Again wp and a super bunch of lads.

Same thing happened to me at my local lan, my controls just went crazy, and i couldnt change them (mind u it was funny jumping when trying to zoom awp =) ) shame really would of been good to see how u guys would of done.

You gotta be pretty stupid to even attempt to put hacks on at a lan event, cuz your bound to get caught.
You gotta be even more brain-dead to activate hacks whilst an admin is standing 2 feet behind you, watching your every move.
Im sure all the teams that attended the GD lan were top level teams, who wanted to have a laugh. So why cheat? I dont buy for a second that he used hacks. I mean online its risky, but you can get away with it, but on a lan? what crap! [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

After being warned for using the console once and having the CPL default config re-enabled, XS was hiding his monitor screen with his tactics sheet when I came back 5 minutes later. I asked him what he was hiding, pulled his tactics sheet away from the monitor, and saw something along the lines of "Sam's Script Executing" echoing to the console on server-join.
He was the first person using that PC since it had had the default CPL config installed on it at about 8:30 that morning. His name is Sam. He was hiding the monitor screen with his tactics sheet, hands trembling, as I came up and stood behind him. He had a "deny everything" policy, obviously, but some people are just bad liars.
I don't for one minute believe he was installing anything like OGC, but he was running his own config after having been told twice not to. He's lucky I didn't disqualify him on the spot, but instead let him redo his config.
The whole thing about Illu not realising the match had started is also, shall we say... dubious. XS spent so long f***ing about trying to redo his config, that I think a "let's f*** about and say we didn't realise it's started" tactic was decided upon.
Even if it wasn't, the head admin standing next to them with a large microphone saying "Go on second restart" was a bit of a clue. They certainly seemed anxious enough for XS to rejoin the server and help them out at the start of the game...
I didn't bother searching the PC for the cfg he was using, because I was trying to get him in game as quickly as legally possible (given his team was playing a man down), and he's not stupid enough to have left it on the PC.
Anyway, I'd rather let this one die out, but these are the facts, not what XS wrote in his little word doc. Like I said, he wasn't "cheating" in a traditional CS way, he was trying to circumvent the rules of the tournament by running his own script. He got caught. End of story.
