Kate Russell of the BBC conducted a video report entitled 'Thumb Twiddling' which sees her interview well known individuals such as Sujoy (VGA) and Greg Edwards (Infinity E-Sports) in regard to the upcoming World Cyber Games. The report has been posted online, as well as the video of the report."It might not surprise you to learn that the computer games industry grossed in the region of $5 billion each year, but what could come as a bit of a shock is that you can earn up to $40,000 in one night, just by playing them! You should go here to see the report and for the download links for the video. Apparently the report will be aired on BBC News 24 World Service from Saturday and on BBC1 on Sunday. Not quite prime time, but good stuff nonetheless.
Computer gaming is a sport borne out of kids playing computer games in their front rooms – but now dedicated gamers are competing with each other all over the world. To this new breed of professional gamer the business of gaming is very serious indeed, and with big prize-money, sponsorship deals offering top-notch computer equipment, and flights to exotic competition venues – who can blame them?"

Nah I think you did that fine by yourself.
Sujoy names a f***ing load of places he's been. Greg pops in every now and then to name a few places he's been and places he hopes to be going. That's good PR that is :P

I am well impressed with that, you both came across as people taking the profession/hobby seriously.
The information was good and there was no hint of "look at what these geeks do" from the slant the bbc took.
The interesting thing will be if there is increased press coverage as up until last couple of months even pc magazines devoted very little copy space for the promotion of lan events.
Has anyone ever looked into the creation of a uk lanning magazine, or section in a magazine? [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
