Some interesting news has popped up over on SoGamed, regarding top Norwegian clan, Spacebar. It seems that the Spacebar 'management' and the players have parted ways, due to a disagreement about the starting line-up. As with every story, there are two sides, both of which can be found over on SoGamed. First up, the Spacebar directors posted up this tiny statement to say that the players, except bsl (clan leader), had been asked to leave the team for showing 'disrespect to their formal clan leader' and also for not tolerating a 'sovereign clan leader'."This whole thing started after CPL Dallas. Our performance there wasn't what any of us expected and we weren't satisfied with the result. [...] Myself, Damien and Naikon wasn't too impressed by bsl's performance and agreed that we should try a different lineup. [...] We/I then suggested that we should try a new lineup consisting of Damien, Knoxville, Luke, Naikon and nVy. This resulted in MAJOR discussions about we having done everything the wrong way and trying to push bsl out of his own clan.Check out the statment for a fuller picture of what's been going on. It seems like quite a ridiculous situation that the players, who essentially are the clan, can be kicked out by directors who should really take no interest in the playing side of things...not in this sense at least. What's even more ludicrous is that this situation arose because the players wanted to do what they thought was best for the clan, but due to the director's loyalty/friendship with bsl, the clan leader, they lose 5 top quality players. Best of luck to the five members who are starting a new clan...no name has been announced yet.
Update: The Team Spacebar management have now posted up a lengthy statement of their own. It basically tells the same story, but they insist they showed loyalty to bsl because he had been professional and they'd rather 'sponsor a team that can play ball, than a handful of the most ambitious gamers around'. They stated that they couldn't overlook disrepect simply because of someone's skill. Fair play, good luck to all involved.

Fair enough, Spacebar pay for expenses or whatever, but any line-up/playing decisions should be left to the players alone....even if it means by majority vote. I'd have thought anyway. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
