As I reported earlier Joolz has joined the UA team. Joolz a former cheat author changing sides caused a little stir in our community and many questions were asked, that needed answering.

So an IRC session was arranged and the transcript of that has been uploaded. Here is a small sample of what went down:

Apophis: What drove you to develop cheats to begin with? Was it an actual desire to help cheaters or was it just the challenge of developing the cheats to get around the anti-cheat developers?

Joolz: Actually, it was CSG that got me started!
Joolz: I used to play with OGC 6
Joolz: and one day i got kicked from the server
Joolz: I downloaded the source and made it so i wasn't
Joolz: then, when OGC 7 came out
Joolz: CSG went to the next level
Joolz: this aimbot protection thing
Joolz: battery.mdl as the cheaters will remember
Joolz: it flashing everywhere on the screen
Joolz: and it went from there, JoolzOGC was born.
Joolz: I enjoyed the challenge

Apophis: What level of confidence do you have in the anti-cheating initiative that Valve has made? Do you feel that it is a viable solution and will do the job?

Joolz: Valve has done a moderate job.
Joolz: They are very secretive (and rightfully so) about what they have done. But, if they just gave it a 'bit' more thought it would be much better
Joolz: At the moment it just does memory checks. Very easy to pick up with OllyDbg or similar
Joolz: So, providing they can keep up the fight, time will tell whether they are doing a good job.
Joolz: Cheats WILL always exist though.
