UK Defeat Ireland with Comfortable 36 - 12 Lead

Now a break from CPL Cologne news as yesterday the UK national CS team played against Ireland in a game where victory would ensure their spot in the quarter-finals of the clanbase nations competition. The team for De_Nuke consisted of Liquid, Dartagnan, Toomy, b0b & AnNuM. The game started badly for UK, losing the pistol round then the two following rounds as Ireland took a 3 - 0 lead. However the team quickly bounced back with AKs and claimed 8 out of the remaining 9 rounds of that half and changed to CTs with a 8 - 4 lead.

The second half of De_Nuke went very well for UK as they held their defence firm throughout and claimed the first 10 rounds. Then a good play by Ireland allowed them 1 rounds at leastas the UK won 11 - 1, making the game 19 - 5 overall going into de_dust2.

The UK team for de_dust2 consisted of Liquid, b0b, Toomy, AnNuM, lil (making his first appearance for the UK outfit). This map was a bit more one sided and the UK team needed just 6 rounds to secure victory. Once again as Counter-Terrorists they started well winning the first 4 rounds. However, Ireland got themselves together for one last surge and claimed the next 4 rounds and the scores stayed relatively tight for a while going down to 1 v 1s. However eventually UK got the final round they needed. After that the game became a bit less tense as both teams were taking more risks and the map ended 17 - 7 in UK's favour.

So it appears the UK are to face Norway for a place in the Semi-Finals of the tournament. Lets hope and see what we can do, also thanks for the game and a good game it was with Ireland, who were well organised and friendly as usual.

03:14 21/5/2002		 I think the reason everyone is slagging UK-Team off is just because you picked too many I-eS players when only 3 will do. If you'd of just picked lil liquid + other (whoever is the next best in your opinion) then I doubt everyone would be up in arms about it beat Infinity-UKTeamSports. Thinking of it now, Dan wouldnt have been picked, cos he works most if not all Sundays, which is favourite day to play, so really was the 3 ies players picked, greg,liq,doug, cos lil was in ui/eCore at the time b4 i10. But with Myers & lil joining a week or 2 later, didnt help things.

But i think they team is doing well, and couldnt see a different team doing alot better. We was expected to be beaten hard by Sweden, and also beaten by Ireland, by alot of people, but thankfully the team proved them wrong, with a close game with sweden, and comfortable results v's the other Group A nations.

The team 'looks' biased but bear in mind Renegade and lil would have been picked regardless 2 months ago when they weren't in IeS. And 2-3 IeS players would have been picked too.

However as sometimes happens at the time of picking the team we believed Blaze was slightly off form and were unsure of how he would play against the likes of sweden etc... We considered including him in the team after the Noc vs SK game but it was a bit late by then. But let's face the music, the scene is self-distructive and is a breeding ground for a stupid amount of hypocrisy. Cheating means absolutely dick all these days and is shrugged off by most in the community. People like lil, annum, nemo, savace etc who may or may not have cheated but are examples of what happens to known/suspected/ex cheaters.

Everyone (bar a few) rewards leet little morons by giving out respect to "skill" rather than to good sportsmanship, good attitudes, friendliness, and comradery.
