CS Nation has recently sat down with legendary mapper Dave J for an interview discussing his future and the highlights in his past. For those of you who have been under a rock for the last few years Dave J is none other than the creator of de_dust 1 & 2 and de_cbble to name a few.CS-Nation: You seemed to enjoy making the ETC series of maps. What kind of challenges did they present?Read the full interview here.DaveJ: They taught me a lot about how the Half-Life engine worked, a challenge in itself was working out how all the components fitted together. They also taught me that large projects really do require planning, something I did very briefly, and not much for ETC2 (hence its 2.5 year delay). They didn't present challenges as such, rather insights.
CS-Nation: In the battle of the British mappers, who would win in a fight - you, DaveJ, or lovable little narby? Narby would be equipped with a pair of white pants while you would get a tube of smartys.
DaveJ: If I was wearing my boots, probably me. When you have UK size 16 feet (i.e., my feet are each 30cm long, really), you have quite a weapon). Even without them, I have a larger build and would win. But I'm not a violent man.
