CS 1.4 - Next Week?

Just noticed over on XSR that the Steam Forums have been updated with a new thread that details the latest changes/updates to the Steam beta:

Counter-Strike
Added Dynamic Crosshair. The Crosshair now expands or shrinks depending on the player status (running, jumping, crouching, etc.). Turn it off using "cl_dynamiccrosshair 0".
Fixed phantom crosshair appearing when hitting intermission if you were zoomed in.
Tweaked mouse/keyboard input settings.
Fixed muting bug in the scoreboard.
Fixed bullet exit holes not drawing properly on thick objects.
Tracker
Changed in-game color scheme.
Fixed icons not drawing for in-game Tracker.
Fixed message box text wrapping bug.
Fixed online/offline status rapidly changing.
Fixed text entry for in-game Tracker.

Later on in the thread, when asked about a release date for CS 1.4, Erik Johnson replied with:

"We're shooting for mid next week currently."

So there you have it, CS 1.4 could be with us as soon as next week....good news, I'm sure you'll agree.

	DoZ 17:03 10/4/2002	The dynamic x-hair grows while you move and shrinks as you duck, so you have less accuracy while moving. There is no end to jump ducking in fire fights, people will just be jump ducking and moving slower, slowly coming to a stop on about the 3rd jump. It doesn't actually stop what it set out to do. Some of the changes are very nice though. Bomb showing on radar, ineyes view when dead, the para is pretty sweet, you can turn off automatically switching to a weapon when you pick iit up now too. 	SuperNick- 17:07 10/4/2002	I don't know why they bother with all these new additions and stuff personally. They are nice and all, but it's like they don't even listen to what the community is crying out for. Why not just iron out cheating once and for all? I would be much happier with a cheat free game rather than a "dynamic crosshair". Who knows, maybe valve's new anti cheat software will work great, but i'm not getting my hopes up. 	KaM 19:10 10/4/2002	nick have faith fs ;p, you shud go onto some 1.4 server, if you have moderately decent aim or even get a headshot half the server cries cheat ^_^, and forget trying to explain the basic principle of listening to sound in cs I aint seen one person i thought was cheating in the last few weeks or so and ive been playin it fairly solidly for ooh a month now ;x Still there is probably hax for it and i'll look like a nooooooob now :> [ Comment: Report \| IP: Logged ]
