3D ActionPlanet has posted a short article about life after the death of PunkBuster. It takes a brief look at 2 anti-cheats, namely Paladin and CSGuard. The article seems a little strange by leaving out Cheating Death, although its not the most widely used anti-cheat it is definitely very effective.Up until recently, a piece of software known as PunkBuster provided a solution -- Counter-Strike servers would run the PunkBuster server alongside their regular HLDS installation. When a player would want to connect to said server, they would have to run the PunkBuster client, which continuously scanned for known cheats. It was an excellent system.Read the full article here. Then tragedy struck: Even Balance, the company who created PunkBuster, announced that they would be discontinuing their support for Half-Life. Now what are we supposed to do?
