After the slightly silly, 'sexiest UKT staff member poll' (where I think you'll all agree I won, honest), I've put up a new poll on the site. This time the question is, 'Are the Clanbase competitions worthwhile'?

Many people debate this these days, probably because of how widespread cheating has become in CS, for the time being at least. Personally, I don't think the ladder competitions can be taken seriously as they're totally online and probably vulnerable to cheats. I do, however, think that the Clanbase cups are great competitions and the LAN finals only add to the reputation they have. Let us know your thoughts...

	M8rix Head CS Server Admin UKTerrorist 13:23 6/3/2002	I don't think you can ask if the CB competitions are 'worthwhile and reputable' in one poll. The two words don't match up. I think they are worthwhile, because it allows clans to practice and compete against other clans, but I don't think they are reputable, because of the current situation with cheating and the best clans in the UK are hibernating most of the time. 	DArtagnan Infinity-eSports 18:06 6/3/2002	The eurocup is very reputable i think. Hence why NiP and the rest of the top euro clans happilly accepted to play in it. Also why we have seen no dropouts yet (last time it was mainly due to co rules being played in an MR time). However i see the open cup as only a way to prove yourself good enough to be invited to the next eurocup. The ladders are a joke and waste of time. [ Comment: Report \| IP: Logged ]

	Houd 14:32 8/3/2002	The ladders are just ridiculous, even if you discount the cheating, config whoring and the fact that most top clans are not in them, you still have a ridiculous challenge system where a team is never made to play a game they don't want to, which is coupled with the fact that you can just pick an "easy route" through various artificially high clans to get to the top cough 6K cough. As for the Cups, I don't think the Euro cup's validity has anything to do with it's LAN final, as in theory any clan could get there through dishonest means, but it is the fact that pretty much every clan has a strong LAN reputation, there's an element of trust that you don't find in any other online competition. The Open cup on the other hand is open to such abuse one can only hope it's played to some level of fairness. [ Comment: Report \| IP: Logged ]
