Another new anti-cheat program is released in the form of WBWG. However this is an anti-cheat program with a slight difference, it's an admin mod plug-in that is server side only. On the other hand there seems to be one draw back, that it only detects OGC.Below is small description from the WBWG website:
WBWG no cheat is a simple admin mod plug-in that uses an innovative method to detect ogc cheats. The plugin is entirely server side only and does not need to iterate over thousands of prefix combinations. In most cases cheaters will be caught immediately after connecting. The plug-in in many cases can discover the cheater's prefix and the complementary cheat handle plug-in allows server admins to handle the cheater how ever they see fit.To download WBWG, head over to their site.

It is actually pretty funny when you see crap like CSGuard "Authenticating" people in a similar style to punkbuster as if the stupid checks it performs are any basis to authenticate somebody isn't cheating. These plugins only give an easy way out to big name server providers like Barrysworld and Blueyonder to stop them having to commit resources to running paladin servers, they can "fight the cheaters" like people are demanding with their poor admin mod plugins. Sure, they do catch a lot of morons, take [ui.landshark] for example, but the "clever" cheaters get to play on unmolested and can even use the makeshift admin plugins to back up their cases as to why they don't cheat. Why use a system that can "detect" 40-50% of newbie cheaters when you can use a system that actively blocks 90%? [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
